Julia, a volunteer coach for Anouar Association’s Solidarity and Development Program, call for all computer coders to share and offer their talents, skills and time to teach computer coding to the youth of Morocco, the prime recipient of the Anouar Association’s various projects. Mr. Mohamed Dekkak, the Founder and Chairman of the Anouar Association, had a vision in mind to help the less fortunate kids of Ait Faska, a community located at the rural province of Marrakech, Morocco, to be globally competitive and enhance their talents and capabilities using computers. By volunteering as a coder, this vision of Mr. Mohamed Dekkak and the rest of men and women behind the Anouar Association will be put into action and boost the spirits of these young people to build a brighter future ahead of them.
Computers: A Machine that Innovates Tomorrow
A Computer is a mechanical device that can be commanded using sequences of logic and arithmetic systems with the use of computer programing. Whereas, computer programing is the process of creating and designing indicated tasks in computers that have encoded instructions. Computer coding, on the other hand, is essential because it acts as the programming language used in comprising a series of instructions in producing different kinds of output in the system to perform algorithms. Computer coding is also called subsets of programming because it implements first steps in setting up a program. It is quite necessary to know or be knowledgeable about these things because it sums up the whole computer process and functions. Though it might sound like a complicated and challenging to analyze, being exposed to various computer functions would give anyone advantage and bring a leap of advancement to the corporate world globally. Computers are known as an integral part of the professional life of people living in the 21st century.
Computer literacy is considered to be an essential skill in today’s fast-paced and the modern world. Anywhere a person goes, there are the presence and use of computers. A lot of companies, institutions, and employers hire people who are computer literate and knowledgeable using specific software programs because they all base their concerns using computers and computer codes. Computer codes aid them to run their company fast and more efficient because of different command functions and algorithms involved. Therefore, computer code is the 2nd universal language wide used around the world, next to the English Language. Without the use of computer and computer codes, it will be much difficult for people to decode and encode essential functions that comprise the tasks assigned to them.
It was believed that in the coming years, there would be much more significant progress in the advancement of computer technology worldwide, as mostly, all people around the world depend on it. It will thrive more and change the whole perspective of computer technology from the past years. It is important to teach computer and computer coding to young people to help them be aware of the updates regarding current technologies and demands of the computer because it will help them land a job in government or private sectors shortly. These young people, when exposed to the uses of computer coding, will likely be more creative and imaginable in investing new rooms of growth in tomorrow’s technological industry. If the professionals in the computer science industry would be generous enough with their time to be volunteers in teaching the youth, the call for a promising tomorrow would be likely to be successful and would build a positive impact in the world.
Do something worthwhile: Anouar Association’s Altruistic Goal for the Youth of Morocco
Volunteerism, according to Meriam-Webster Dictionary, is an act of doing something that requires time, skill, service, and availability to do a job in a community without any payment or without expecting anything in return. It is considered to be a social responsibility of an individual to society. Being a volunteer is offering oneself to the needs of others and being compassionate enough to the beck and call of the less fortunate who needed to help. Generosity and selflessness are the critical traits of volunteerism.
Anouar Association has been an advocate to enrich the lives of the less fortunate kids and elders in Ait Faska, a community found in the province of Marrakech, Morocco. Since founded on January 5, 2017, the main goal of Anouar Association is to assist the neglected kids and elders through fundraising projects, encouraging privileged people to volunteer and ask donations from partner organizations. Mr. Mohamed Dekkak, the founder and chairman of Anouar Association, came up with different volunteering programs to our brothers and sisters who belong to the poverty line. One of these various programs is the call for Coding Coaches to share their skills and talents in computer coding to help the kids of Ait Faska see the importance of computers in the global competition and be able to help them seek and land future jobs or careers in information technology and computer science. Another factor that Anouar have in mind is for the children to view computer machines as an expression which one can learn from and act as a tool for creativity and innovation of change. Anouar wanted to provide different uses of computer systems for the benefit of these youngsters to find opportunities and empowerment for the skills that they need to bring contribution to the digital economy.
The association is fully aware that learning how to code opens exciting and countless career entrepreneurship opportunities when these children became adults. That is why Anouar is encouraging everyone in the computer science and information technology industry to have a compassionate and generous heart in volunteering their talents and skills to become a Coding Coach. Being a coding coach will bring a fulfilling experience, as well as an immersion to experiencing life in a multi-racial and multi-cultural environment, thus making one gain more knowledge and wisdom. It can also bring immense joy and provide a wider network and connections. Without an act of generosity and concern mentors, any positive outcome for youth development will never take place.
So come and take part in this once in a lifetime but very rewarding experience of volunteering. For more information please visit the website: For more info, please visit our website:
According to the World Health Organization, about 767 million people worldwide (that is one out of ten people) that live without access to safe and clean water. On top of that, 2.4 billion people or one-third of the world’s population, do not have access to water sanitation solutions at all.
People then have to choose between cooking, washing and drinking with dirty, contaminated water, or not using it at all. They are constantly at risk of acquiring waterborne diseases such as dysentery, diarrhea, and cholera, which can be fatal.
The continent has significant water resources. On the other hand, it lacks the distribution and sanitation infrastructure that would allow people to access safe and clean water.
In rural areas of Morocco, access to water is a daily concern for the population. Although water points exist and wells provide adequate distribution of available water, their use requires a lot of effort and people suffer from it. People travel far away just to fetch some water and children don’t have the freedom to even go to school because of it. In El Karkour Ait Faska, there is little rainfall throughout the year which makes it even harder for the villagers.
The main objective of the Association Anouar de développement et de solidarité is to supply clean and safe water to the village and its surrounding villages that will be able to supply for 1000 houses at least. Under the chairmanship of Mr. Mohamed Dekkak, he doesn’t only want to make a difference but also wants to create more beneficial projects for the local communities and hope to more needy communities inside and out of Morocco with the collaboration of the association and the volunteers.
Under the leadership of Mr. Mohamed Dekkak, Chairman of the Association Anouar de développement et de solidarité, this project has been studied, procured and constructed the installations necessary to reach the available materials and to sanitize the water to use. In addition, access to water is the means to trigger an awareness of the inhabitants about their living conditions, with the aim of pushing them to improve the day by day and to develop.
CONTEXT OF GENERAL LIFE OF POPULATIONS
Health care provided to local populations is limited due to insufficient health centers, lack of equipment and medicines, difficulties in transporting patients and lack of qualified personnel. When it comes to education, the number of classes is very low and the level of general education is low. Some villages do not have schools, which forces children to travel long distances, sometimes several kilometers, to get to the local school and lack of teachers as well as one of the problems there. The road and road network is also undeveloped and in very bad condition.
This project of safe and clean water supply for the populations of El Karkour and surrounding villages is one of the many beneficial projects for the villages under the support of Mr. Mohamed Dekkak and the local presence of the Association Anouar de développement et de solidarité and ensures continuity of action. This will not only benefit the community but rather the development of the country as a whole.
The populations of El Karkour Ait Faska and the two surrounding villages, face two challenges:
- A water source that is scarce and a general problem of this resource (unmanaged or unprotected sources). The wells dry up in the dry season, and it takes a lot of time to get water due to its distance. Aside from being far from it, the wet season makes it more dangerous for people to travel especially for children and women.
- The diseases related to the water of the poorly adapted ones, the children and the women remain the layers most affected by these diseases.
99% of the water consumed is not drinkable. Apart from the resources can pollute by the disaffections, the water storage in the hearths is always contaminating for lack of hygiene. The increase in water needs and the absence of community-based network management structures, conflicts between villages linked to the water issue have tended to increase this. Competition on water is very strong in the target area for human food. Faced with the scarcity of water resources, the weakness of the existing infringement and the degradation of the structures, the villagers became aware of the vulnerability of their water supply and organized themselves. This is one of the factors that Mr. Mohamed Dekkak wants to address as well.
In order to improve the water and sanitation situation in the region, the project set up drinking water points in the neediest villages. The construction of these works was accompanied by training of the villagers in their maintenance and awareness of hygiene, to ensure the sustainability of the action. For this purpose, the involvement of the population and local authorities in the implementation of the project was crucial.
This project ensures better access to safe and clean water and the improvement of hygiene conditions by:
- The construction of water supply systems powered by solar energy to raise water on the mountain and keep it in a reservoir to redistribute it by gravity using fountains
- The organization of an information and awareness campaign on water, sanitation and the reduction of risks of pollution of catchment water
- Training of the people of the equipment management
- The establishment of sustainable management structures.
IMPACT AND DURABILITY OF THE PROJECT
Access to safe and clean water is an important health advance – drinking water for drinking and cooking brings a significant reduction in diarrheal diseases, especially those affecting young children. Body hygiene, washing clothes with pure and abundant water, are important factors in the reduction of dermatological diseases. The fatigue and pain caused by the transport of water, mainly to women, are reduced. – The abundant water allows real progress in the maintenance of the habitat.
Most of the chores related to water, fetching, transportation, and storage, which are generally incumbent on women, are reduced and facilitated. The time saved on water transport allows women to diversify their activities. The works in production make it possible to irrigate small perimeters of food crops. They allow the watering of domestic animals. Food crops, livestock are an essential input into the diet and a significant source of income.
Water is free and free for all villagers without any discrimination. The population is greatly involved in the implementation of the project and must invest in the maintenance of the works. This allows the lack of financial contribution to the production of water while ensuring the sustainability of the facilities that belong to the villages.
Mr. Mohamed Dekkak, chairman of Association Anouar de développement et de solidarité, gladly encourage everyone to make a difference. We may not do great things in life but we can do small things in a great way, and that is something we must aim every day. We must help and protect each other as well as maintaining our ecosystem which can only be achieved if we work as one.
