International Women’s Day: Opening of a library and the launching of Anouar book club

The Anouar Association for Development and Solidarity (women sector) will celebrate the International women’s day by officially opening a library and launching the Anouar reading club. This event will take place on March 8, 2020, at 10 am.

The goal of this event is to promote a future where innovation and knowledge will open new doors for women and girls so that they can play an active role in building more inclusive systems and effective services in the society.

One of the advocacy of the Anouar Association is promoting women empowerment. Therefore, the Anouar Association will celebrate this important event together with another successful project of the association. International Women’s Day is also known as International Day for the rights of women. It is an international day emphasizing the fight for women’s rights and, in particular, for the reduction of inequalities compared to men.

Together with this celebration are the official opening of the library and the creation of the reading club. It is very important to the community of the Ait Faska, especially to the next generations. According to Mohamed Dekkak, President of the Anouar Association who is also a book enthusiast, a library will be the guidance and inspiration to the youth, and the reading club will broaden their mind.

The comprehensive discussions, as well as the diverse perspective of the members on a particular book, will help children and youth to improve their knowledge and appreciation of the world. They’ll be more motivated to appreciate other cultures, not only through the book but also through interactions among members who have different backgrounds. Anouar Book Club aims to use reading as a way to encourage children and youth to interact with one another, to share reading pleasures, encourage exchanges around books between readers and librarians, and introduce foreign literature.

Like all countries in the world, Morocco celebrates International Women’s Day on March 8. This is an opportunity to highlight the crucial and essential role of the women not only in the transformation of education but also in the evolution of society. On this occasion, the Anouar Association has chosen to celebrate this day to emphasize the need to create an environment conducive to reading for children and young people by setting up and running libraries within the community and opening up the community to its socio-cultural environment.

It is the mother (women) who have the mission of training the citizen of tomorrow, capable of acting, innovating, and building a space for living together in Morocco. March 8 is an opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of promoting this noble program through reading and motivation. It is also an opportunity to highlight the importance of reading by joining the club to join the action to promote reading in schools, by running book clubs in their class and their establishment and by sharing their love of knowledge and books.

This is a ceremony in honor of women and at the same time the successful project of Anouar association in educational sector: an  opening of a library for the children and public. Along with this event, a medical campaign dedicated to women will be organized on March 13 – 15, 2020, at the community center of Ait Faska.
