Mohamed Dekkak travels to Puerto Banús, Marbella
A first-class marina and entertainment complex, Puerto Banus sits in the vicinity of Nueva Andalucía, just 6 km southwest of Marbella, on Costa del Sol. It was built in 1970 by Jose Banus, a local property developer and eventually became the largest residential tourism complexes developer on the Costa del Sol.
Noldi Schreck was the architect tasked by Prince Alfonso of Hohenlohe-Langenburg to design the project. Schreck was a popular Swiss Russian creative whose works can also be spotted in important developments like Zona Rosa neighborhood in Mexico City as well as the famed Beverly Hills in California. After checking out the place, Schreck came up with the view of designing a private Andalusian village and marina, and this is precisely what Puerto Banus is at present, an exclusive destination visited by the high society from different countries.
