Dubai International Horse Fair: A Gathering of International Equestrian Community

The international equestrian community from regional equine industry players, aspirant horse riders of all ages, to horse enthusiasts meets at the annual Dubai International Horse Fair and the Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship from March 21-23, 2019 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, in the city of Dubai, UAE.

More than 10 thousand professionals, buyers, breeders and aficionados from over 25 nations with fresh additions from China, Serbia, Chile, Lebanon, Malaysia, and Turkey among others are anticipated to attend the said event and to share ideas and expand their global networks with more than two hundred brands and companies.

Carried out under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, this event will present the latest equestrian items, horse therapies as well as the finest horse breeds across the globe.

The Equestrian Industry

The current equine industry is estimated to be around 300 billion dollars worldwide and provides 1.6 million full-time jobs. The United Arab Emirates is becoming one of the world’s leading hubs for the Equestrian Community with international presentations and events presently organized each year in the UAE. Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship’s Higher Organizing Committee Chairman, Ziad Abdullah Galadari, stated that horses shape a significant piece, particularly of the Arab heritage.

Attending the event is like having a first-hand experience of Emirati culture. With horse-riding strongly rooted in the culture of the Middle East, the fair’s Heritage Village will foster the rich history and culture of the UAE. The Heritage Village is a unique feature appreciated by all visitors and exhibitors alike. Adorned with colorful and rustic displays, the Heritage Village is an inspiring spot that features henna tattoos, traditional Bedouin houses, falconry, local meals, and the UAE’s art crafts.

DWTC director Asma Al Sharif stated, “We are proud to host the 15th edition of the Dubai International Horse Fair which continually supports the growing equine sector of the region.” Each year, the organizer sees a wider international interest in the fair as they get ready to welcome buyers, exhibitors, breeders and aficionados from different parts of the globe, including newcomers from Asia, Europe, and the US who come to network, grow their businesses and build opportunities within one of the most vibrant equine industries in the world.

16th Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship

Organized together with Dubai International Horse Fair, the Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship will not just showcase the top of the line horses but will too pave way for the finest breeds to race on a global stage.

With four million dollars or 15 million dirham prize money at stake, the Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship will exhibit the magnificent Arabian steeds estimated at around one million to two million dollars to horse enthusiasts.

  1. Exhilarating performances and demonstrations by Dubai Police

Bringing in members of Dubai Police’s highly trained canine unit to exhibit their skills towards detection on a variety of substances like illegal drugs, explosives, wildlife scat, blood, money, and contraband electronics. Adding to the excitement of the Fair is the rare performance by Dubai Police band and the force’s own horseback tent-pegging contest.

  1. Spanish performances by Team Z7

Team Z7 presents Spanish horses in a magnificent dressage routine, a verification to the long years of practice and training. New for this year, they bring some of their exhilarating performances such as western riding, rodeo riding, and bullfighting.

  1. The Emirates Falconers Club

The Emirates Falconers Club will make their introduction at the Dubai International Horse Fair with a presentation of their distinct breed of falcons, hosting live hunting sessions and sharing their know-how on the rich history of the Falcon and its importance in Emirati culture.

  1. The Arabian Saluki Centre

Joining the event for the first time is the Arabian Saluki Centre wherein they showcase a number of their most prized Saluki hunting dogs, emphasizing on the art of hunting with these lovely creatures who in contrast to the majority of canine breeds rely on sight rather than scent to hunt down their prey at a really fast pace.

  1. Lamborghini unveiling

Speaking of speed, Lamborghini, DIHF’s official car sponsor will unveil the latest Urus model during the event. It is tagged as the first Super Sports Utility Vehicle (SSUV) in the world. The SSUV will prove its value to the equine world by towing a horse trailer during the show.

Equestrian Themed Art Gallery

Artists with a passion for horses have gathered at Dubai International Horse to present their horse-themed masterpieces to the regional equestrian community and those who have a keen interest in art.


International and local artists are displaying their finest equestrian art pieces at the assigned Art Gallery space, which returns this year. Furthermore, art and decor pieces with an equestrian theme from the likes of Equine Art, Reem Gallery, Baba Art will be on offer to the public in a wide gallery together with other artists from different parts of the globe.


Internationally recognized sculptors, painters, and sketch artists will reveal their horse-themed artworks. These comprises of complex life-sized sculptures, oil paintings, mixed media pieces including acrylics, bronze, copper, leather, recycled horseshoes, and other bespoke items.


Jack Art Gallery’s Jack Lee, both an artist and teacher expressed that the fair has given them enough time to network with possible collectors especially those interested in UAE’s culture and heritage as well as equestrian art. It is the first time that Jack Art Gallery from Abu Dhabi is exhibiting a distinct collection of oil paintings that depicts noble Arabian steeds and stunning portraits of the royal family of UAE.


For many participating galleries, the Dubai International Horse Fair is a venue to catch up with their clients and expand their network. Coming all the way from Canada, the Magic of Originality Fine Arts Gallery is back to the Dubai International Horse Fair for the 12th time bringing with them a spectacular collection of oil paintings which bring to life the magnificence of the Arabian Horse. Their artist Ali Mohsen Al Mimar, shared that he has painting Arabian horses for more than twenty-eight years and had developed good relationships with clients through the Fair.



Making its debut at the Dubai International Horse Fair is Baba Art from Belgium. The company showcases intricate sculptures of horses and camels utilizing recycled horse shoes coated in gold or black. The event draws in equestrian aficionados and has given many artists the chance to share their artworks with a wide audience.

3rd Edition of the Dubai International Equestrian Conference

Organized at The Dubai World Trade Center alongside the Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship and the Dubai International Horse Fair, 3rd Dubai International Equestrian Conference which carries under the theme, ” Dubai – the Heartbeat of the Equestrian World” will be presented on a 3 day conference event.


An assembly of equestrian experts and high profile speakers from the countryand abroad will address prospects of equestrian education in the Arab World, and youth experiences in equestrian sports – challenges and achievements.


Opening Ceremony began with speeches delivered by UAE leaders: H.E. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance, H.E. Mirza Al Sayegh, Office Manager of HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Mr. Mustada Ali bin Ahmed Amshan, Conference Chairman. The conference was hosted by Diana Al-Nabulsi, Diana Scoop Magazine’s Founder and editor.


The first day’s topic to be discussed looks into the U.A.E. and Saudi efforts to develop Arabian horse races locally and internationally. Moderated by Sultan Saeed Hareb, Media and Horse racing analyst.

The second day of the conference discusses about the Arabian Women and Equestrian Sport, its Hopes and Ambitions. The first discussion panel sees Ms. Siham Al-Shehhi as the moderator. She’s a passionate horse rider and media presenter in Fujairah Tv in UAE.
