With thousands of international guests and through the leadership of Mohamed Dekkak, the Honorary Chairman of the Ibn Battuta Association expressed that the theme seeks to tackle how the culture of traveling can become a driver of PEACE. In view of the fact that traveling broadens an individual’s discovery and understanding of the world, the festival inspires travelers into playing the role as ambassadors of peace.
Andalusian and African music brought dynamics to the program which also featured a short fashion show. Some very important personalities who graced the event where Ana Fonseca General Director of International Organization for Migration, Mustapha Oudadess Secretary General of Tangier-Tetouan-El Hociema Region, Yosr Tazi, Chairman of Abdelhadi Tazi Foundation, Samuel Benolol, Member of Israelites Community in Tangier, Leon Parienti, President and Co-Founder of Horyou Foundation, Ana Fonseca General Director of International Organization for Migration, Awad Mohammad Sheikh Mujrin Chairman of Dubai Travelers and Hassan Baraka, the first Moroccan swimmer to have reached 5 continents through sports competitions.
Mohamed VI Museum held a conference entitled “L’eau et l’homme paix et coexistence” with invited speakers Jaafar Kanssousi, Khalid Rami, Khalid Rfifi, Tugba Evrim Maden and Jalila El Ofir tackling peace and coexistence between man and water.
Another conference held by the Anouar group discusses “The legacy of Ibn Battuta.” Keynote speakers include Mohamed Ait Laamim, Abdullah Alaoui, Mustapha Lamhaddar, Jaafar Kanssousi, Muhammad Al-Boughali, Mohammed Abdullah Boodai, and Michlah Abderrahmane.
Another interesting conference held at the University of New England entitled “Self-discovery through travel” introduced speakers like Ahmed EL Shehawy, Zouheir Houmane, Anthony David, Noufissa Benjeloun, Aouatif Khelloqi and Bouchra Baibanou
After the success of this travel and cultural festival, the association believes that the event has been an excellent opportunity in showing the world of the incredible journey of Ibn Battuta. His outstanding character can inspire the present generation to travel responsibly, putting to heart the value of cultural respect and understanding.
